Douglas Maly
Switchgear MagazineDouglas Maly earned both a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Japanese from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA). His career spans three decades, beginning with services and redesign of electric machines. Later he worked in a factory setting, building robots to auto mate high-volume production processes. Leveraging his hands-on manufacturing experience, he moved into electromagnetics and power electronics design, primarily for electric drivetrains. Douglas holds 16 patents.
Ever since his days at university while writing for “Wisconsin Engineer”, Douglas has cultivated a side gig in technical writing and technical translation, culminating in his role as Editor-in-Chief of Switchgear Magazine. In addition to his profession al activities, Douglas likes mesh networking in unlicensed and amateur radio frequency bands, holding callsigns ND1D/9A5NDD.
