Spanish group Abengoa SA was hired by Chilean forestry and timber company Arauco to carry out the transmission works for a biomass plant.

Chile:The central grid operator CDEC-SIC launched a tender for three transmission projects requiring an estimated USD 192 million in investment.

France, Levallois-Perret: Alstom has been awarded a €260 million ($278 million) contract by Transmisión Eléctrica del Norte (TEN), a subsidiary of Chile-based electric company E-CL, to supply four turnkey substations for Chile’s first interconnection system, the Mejillones – Cardones Transmission line.

Switzerland, Zurich: ABB has secured a contract worth around $25 million from Colombia’s Interconexión Eléctrica S.A. E.S.P. (ISA) to deliver 54 shunt reactors.

USA, Washington DC: The U.S. State Department and the Clean Energy Ministerial’s SEAD Initiative are collaborating with Chile’s Ministry of Energy (MoE) to design energy efficiency policies which will expand its appliance energy efficiency programme first launched in 2005.
