India, Thane, Kalwa: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has allocated INR 42 crore ($7 million) in the next two years to modernise and upgrade the existing power supply mechanism.
The company intends to install two extra transformers, one each at Bhaskar Nagar and Vaghoba Nagar, where the population has risen substantially over the years, causing frequent power supply interruptions.

“We will commence work on erecting both the transformers soon. To strengthen the existing set up we have spent over INR 19 crore ($3.1 milllion) in the last five years for augmentation. Besides, INR 42 crore ($7 million) has been allocated to modernise the system in the next two years in Kalwa.” said an official from MSEDCL.
The modernisation project includes 22/11 kV and 10 MVA capacity substation at Kharegaon to regulate the supply system.
