India’s electricity board approves $1.4B trans-grid project
India, Kerala: The Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEB) has approved a trans-grid project for enhancing its transmission capacity, which will include construction of as many as 26 substations.
India, Kerala: The Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEB) has approved a trans-grid project for enhancing its transmission capacity, which will include construction of as many as 26 substations.
The first phase of this $1.4 billion project will cover works on the multi-circuit, multi-voltage line between Madakkathara 400 kV substation and Areekode 400 kV substation, reports The Hindu.
New 400 kV substations will be built, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, at Mylatti in Kasaragod, Wayanad, Edamon, Kottayam, Kollam, and Kundara, reports The Hindu.
The trans-grid facility will include a total of 26 new substations, including those at Neeleswaram, Kunnamangalam, Thalassery, and Kakkayam.
Works on the trans-grid are aimed to be conducted so as to use the complete potential of the first high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) link between Pugalur and Madakkathara.
