BHEL wins contract for Shahpurkandi hydroelectric project

India, Punjab: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) has won a $ 52 million contract for 206 MW Shahpurkandi hydropower plant following the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. tendering process.

India, Punjab: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) has won a $ 52 million contract for 206 MW Shahpurkandi hydropower plant following  the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. tendering process.

The contract includes the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of power transformers and other electromechanical equipment, reports Hydro World.

According to BHEL, power transformers will be supplied by its facility in Jhansi and generating units by the facility in Bhopal. Bangalore unit will provide the monitoring equipment.

Punjab’s Gurdaspur district  in the vicinity of the existing Ranjit Sagar Dam has been selected as the Shahpurkandi’s location.
