Germany, Kaufering: LEW Distribution Network GmbH (LVN) had a 66 t transformer delivered to the Kaufering substation.
According to the press release, it will replace one of the existing transformers in the substation, which has reached the end of its lifetime.
″The new 110 / 20 kV transformer is more powerful than its predecessor and is low-noise and low-loss. The substation thus plays an important role in the power supply in Kaufering, the surrounding communities and the local industry.
The transformer, which is around 9.5 m long, 3 m wide, and 4 m high, weighs around 66 t and was delivered in a special truck from the manufacturer Starkstrom-Gerätebau SGB from Regensburg on 6 May. In order to impair road traffic as little as possible, the special transport covered most of the route during the night until it reached the substation site in the south of Kaufering in the early morning.
After delivery to the site, the transformer was pulled from the transporter and placed on its foundation. It will be connected and put into operation in mid-May. The supply of electricity customers is meanwhile secured by a second transformer in the Kaufering substation, the company said. The decommissioned transformer was removed and disposed of.
