Russia, Kazan: A new electricity substation will be launched in late July, which should ensure uninterrupted power to Kazan facilities for the FIFA World Cup in 2018.
Yesterday Rostekhnadzor in Tatarstan granted permission for commissioning of the new substation Yelabuga 500 kV (Shchelkovo) with capacity of 1500 MVA, the press service said. Test operation of the power transformers began in September 2013, reports Advis.
By the end of 2016, a 220 kV line will be constructed, which will connect the Yelabuga 500 kV to the Central substation in Kazan. A similar line will be built in Nizhnekamsk, thereby creating energy ring that will ensure energy supply during the matches of the World Cup 2018 in Kazan.
