Vietnam: A drone that a local resident used to spray pesticides crashed into a 110 kV power transmission line in Long An Province in southern Vietnam. This caused a power outage for 76000 households and units in five districts across the province on Sunday. The drone hit the Cai Lay – Tan Thanh line at 5:27 pm on Sunday.

Households and establishments in Tan Thanh, Moc Hoa, Vinh Hung, and Tan Hung Districts as well as Kien Tuong Town were left without power. The problem was not fixed until 10:41 pm on the same day.

Long An Power Company on Monday is cooperating with the provincial Department of Industry and Trade to sanction the drone owner. Drone prohibition signs have been installed along 110 kV power transmission lines in the province earlier, and drones must stay at least 100 meters from high-voltage power lines, except for cases of maintaining and repairing the lines, pursuant to Article 4 of Decree 14/2014/ND-CP.
