USA, Virginia, Lynchburg: Delta Star, a U.S. manufacturer of power transformers and mobile substations, plans to expand its Lynchburg, Virginia facility with a $35 M investment, adding 300 new jobs. Governor Glenn Youngkin announced the development on 17 April 2025.

The expansion will increase the site’s footprint by 7,400 m2 (80,000 sq ft) and boost its workforce across manufacturing, engineering, and operations. This move follows Delta Star’s recent $30M investment in a new metal fabrication facility and corporate headquarters in the city, completed in late 2024.

Since then, Lynchburg-based employment has grown from 460 to 547 workers, including 113 positions at the new fabrication plant.

“We are proud to grow our Lynchburg operations to meet the rising global demand for reliable and sustainable energy solutions,” said Jason Greene, Delta Star President and CEO. “This investment strengthens our ability to scale manufacturing and innovate in support of the energy sector’s evolution.”

Founded in 1908, Delta Star has operated in Lynchburg since 1962 and moved its headquarters there later. The company also maintains facilities in California and Quebec.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the City of Lynchburg, and the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance collaborated on the project. A $2.3 M state grant and workforce training support from the Virginia Talent Accelerator Program will assist with the expansion.
