UK, England: The 8 MW Alaska Wind Farm in Dorset is now operational. The project has been developed and installed by a joint venture between Infinergy Advanced Assets and Holme Estate.

The wind farm, located near Wareham, is the first of its kind in Dorset, which has a limited potential for large-scale onshore wind development due to a variety of environmental and technical constraints, including landscape designations and limited grid connection availability. It shares its grid connection with an adjacent solar farm, ensuring an efficient use of the local grid network.

A spokesperson for the project said: “We are delighted that the wind farm has now reached full operation. It hasn’t always been plain sailing, due to grid connection delays the construction stage took longer than anticipated.

The wind farm consists of four refurbished Vestas V80 2 MW wind turbines. It could generate around 17 GWh of electricity every year for up to 20 years.
