UK: The final offshore substation for the Dogger Bank Wind Farm has been installed, marking a key milestone for the UK’s 3.6 GW renewable energy project. The latest structure, part of Dogger Bank C, the third and final phase, was placed by Heerema Marine Contractors’ Sleipnir vessel, which completed the installation of both the jacket foundation and topside.

Commissioning of the substation platform will continue through 11 September 2025. The HEA Hydra vessel will remain docked to the platform via a fixed gangway during this phase, serving as both living quarters and emergency response support. Additionally, FS Balmoral will perform regular supply runs.

The jacket foundation was fabricated at Navantia Seanergies’ Puerto Real yard in Spain and transported earlier this year. The work was subcontracted by Aibel as part of its EPC contract.

Heerema’s installation contract, signed in 2022, also included Dogger Bank A and Dogger Bank B substations, which are already in place more than 130 km off the Yorkshire coast.

Monopile installation at Dogger Bank C began in April and is being conducted by Seaway7’s Seaway Strashnov. Fourteen of 87 monopiles have been installed to date, with work expected to continue into late 2025.

Dogger Bank Wind Farm is a joint venture between SSE Renewables and Equinor (40 % each) and Vårgrønn (20 %). Dogger Bank C will include 87 GE Haliade-X 14 MW turbines, while phases A and B feature 95 turbines each at 13 MW.
