Finland, Siikajoki: Finnish developer Suomen Hyotytuuli has brought the 236 MW Siikajoki wind farm into commercial operation. The project, located in North Ostrobothnia, has increased the capacity of the company’s portfolio to 654 MW.

It is the company’s largest wind energy project so far, comprising 38 Vestas V162-6.2 MW wind turbines. The assembly of the turbines was completed in autumn 2024, after which the work has continued with test use and gradual commissioning.

Harri Suutari, project director at Suomen Hyotytuuli, commented: “The project was largely completed on schedule. Due to the fire at Hitachi’s transformer factory in Vaasa, the project will continue until next summer when the transformers will be replaced. However, all 38 turbines have been in production already since the beginning of 2025.”
