Serbia, Belgrade: Fortis Energy has received preliminary grid connection permits in Serbia for three wind projects with a capacity of 509.5 MW. Serbia’s transmission system operator Elektromreža Srbije (EMS) issued formal statements on electricity grid connections for wind projects Vranje (171 MW) and Gornjak (194.4 MW). The preliminary license process is ongoing for the 144 MW Juhor project.

The projects could generate 1.5 billion kWh of energy, enough to supply 750000 households, and prevent the emission of 350000 tonnes of CO2 annually. The investments are estimated at a combined € 550 million. Wind measurements for the sites and preliminary wind resource assessments are ongoing. A week ago, Fortis Energy announced the acquisition of a 180 MW photovoltaic project in Serbia, which will also include 36 MWh of battery capacity.
