Hungary, Budapest: Ganz recently carried out the delivery testing of a HOS 16000 / 145 transformer built for E.ON Hungária Group’s Dunavirág station. Despite its relatively modest size, the 16 MVA transformer required tailored procedures due to unique design features.
Notably, this unit is among the smallest produced by the manufacturer in recent years. It is also equipped with Pfisterer Connex cable connectors on its 120 kV side, replacing traditional air bushings. This configuration necessitated the use of custom test adapters during high-voltage testing.
Ganz’s Transformer Inspection Team carried out the required procedures in the factory’s Testing Room, where the modified setup was applied. The team encountered certain handling challenges due to the adapter configuration, but completed the tests as planned.
The transformer successfully passed all critical assessments, including 650 kV impulse testing and 275 kV alternating current voltage testing. The custom test cables withstood the electrical stress without issues, confirming both the design integrity and operational readiness of the unit.
The transformer is now cleared for deployment at the Dunavirág substation.
