Denmark, Copenhagen: GE Vernova’s Wind segment has signed its 20th agreement with German wind developer BBWind, continuing a strong partnership focused on community-led wind power projects.
Under the new deal, GE Vernova will supply three of its 6.0 MW 164 m “workhorse” onshore wind turbines to BBWind for two projects in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. These include a 12 MW wind farm in Heiden (two turbines) and a 6 MW project in Dorsten (one turbine).
The turbines will be manufactured at GE Vernova’s 70,000 m2 facility in Salzbergen, which produces components for both European and Asian markets. This collaboration supports Germany’s goal of reaching 80 % renewable electricity by 2030, building on the 3.2 GW of onshore wind installed in 2024.
Gilan Sabatier, GE Vernova’s CCO for Onshore Wind, praised the collaboration, stating: “Our local teams and trusted technology are proud to support Germany’s wind expansion.”
Michael Schluess, CEO of BBWind, added: “GE Vernova has played a key role in delivering our community wind farms. We’re excited for what’s next.”
GE Vernova’s Wind segment operates over 57,000 turbines globally, totaling more than 120 GW of installed capacity. Their advanced turbine portfolio continues to drive affordable, high-quality renewable energy.
