South Korea / Scotland: HD Hyundai Electric Co. has announced a contract with Scotland-based utility SP Energy Networks Ltd. to supply four 400 kV UHV transformers. The agreement was formalised at a signing ceremony attended by HD Hyundai Electric Vice Chairman Cho Seok and SP Energy Networks Director of Process and Technology Eddie Mulholland.
The transformers are scheduled for deployment in a substation expansion project in the south-central region of Scotland, with delivery expected in the second half of 2028.
This contract marks HD Hyundai Electric’s first transformer supply order in the Scottish market. The company views the deal as a strategic opportunity to establish a foothold in Europe and expand its presence across the continent.
Last year, HD Hyundai Electric reported $437.75 M in European orders, achieving an average annual growth rate of 44 % since 2020. The company attributes its success to a focus on product quality and technological innovation – essential factors in Europe’s competitive and regulation-intensive energy sector.
HD Hyundai Electric emphasised the importance of building on this momentum: “Europe is a conservative and technically rigorous market. We aim to strengthen our regional influence through advanced R&D and closer ties with our customers.”
