South Korea / UK, Scotland: Hyosung Heavy Industries, a key affiliate of South Korea’s Hyosung Group, has signed a $60.8 M (₩85 B) agreement with Scottish Power to supply 400 kV ultra-high voltage transformers. These units will help deliver wind-generated electricity from both onshore and offshore locations to urban centers across Scotland.

This latest deal strengthens Hyosung’s lead in the UK, where it has held the top market share for UHV transformers since 2022. With its strong wind resources and a national goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2045, Scotland continues to invest heavily in renewable energy infrastructure.

Hyosung’s expansion in Western Europe is also gaining traction. The company recently became the first Korean supplier to sign a long-term agreement with a German transmission operator and has secured repeat contracts in France and new business in Spain.

“Our success in Europe reflects both our technical expertise and our ability to offer customised solutions,” said Hyosung Group Chair Cho Hyun-joon. He added that the company aims to play a vital role in the global power equipment sector, especially as demand grows alongside the AI industry.

As of Q1, Hyosung’s order backlog totals around $7.2 B (₩10 T), with significant projects across Europe, North America, and other global markets.
