ITAIPU installs over 1,900 transformers

Paraguay: Based on an agreement with National Electricity Administration (ANDE), ITAIPU Binacional has installed 1,919 transformers and medium voltage lines.
Some 350,000 users are benefited with the improvement of the quality of the electricity service.
The cooperation agreement was signed in September 2018 with the aim of strengthening the infrastructure and transmission, distribution and commercialization systems of ANDE, for which ITAIPU allocated an investment of approximately $45 M.
ITAIPU is to supply 2,000 100 kVA transformer, providing equipment assembly services, with the extension of protected medium and low voltage line, adaptation of connections and improvements to the public lighting system in Gobernación de Alto Paraná and the city of Asunción.
Likewise, a tender was called for the contracting of specialized company services for the inspection of transformers in the factory and of assembly and commissioning works.
With these works, it was possible to increase the transformation capacity of ANDE and improve the quality of the service with the use of protected medium voltage conductors, reducing the interruptions of the electric power service in conditions of high demand and in the face of adverse climate phenomena.
Currently, the works are 100 % completed in the three areas mentioned, with 1,919 transformers installed and in service, with their respective protected medium voltage lines.
