Končar’s transformers for Portugal
Končar – Instrument Transformers has signed a deal to deliver eco-friendly instrument transformers to Portuguese company Rede Elétrica Nacional (REN).

Croatia, Zagreb: Croatian electrical equipment manufacturer Končar – Elektroindustrija’s unit Končar – Instrument Transformers has signed a deal to deliver eco-friendly instrument transformers to Portuguese company Rede Elétrica Nacional (REN), which manages the country’s grid and its connections with Spain. Končar will deliver 36 Green Line high-voltage transformers rated at 420 kV and insulated with environmentally friendly biodegradable fluid, meeting a key tender requirement.
The transformers will be used in the construction of six new substations. The value of the deal, signed in August, was not disclosed. The company’s Green Line programme is focused on producing instrument transformers with a low carbon footprint, to help reduce environmental impact and enhance safety in power systems.
