India, Uttar Pradesh, Noida: Residents in Sectors 25, 21, and 12 will soon experience more reliable electricity service following a major enhancement at the Sector 25 33 / 11 kV substation. On 7 May, the capacity of an existing transformer was increased from 5 MVA to 10 MVA to alleviate growing pressure on the power grid as summer demand intensifies.

The upgrade is part of Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited’s (PVVNL) 2024–25 operational plan. “This reinforcement will help ensure continuous electricity supply to these sectors, particularly during peak summer months,” an official confirmed.

The Sector 25 upgrade follows a similar initiative in Sector 80, where a new 5 MVA transformer was commissioned last month to support areas including Sectors 80 and 112. PVVNL representatives emphasised that the need for such improvements stems from rising temperatures and a surge in electricity use.

“This action was crucial to avoid outages and maintain voltage levels, especially during periods of heavy usage,” noted an official. PVVNL also stated that transformer enhancements are being prioritised in densely inhabited zones where demand projections and usage data signal the need for greater capacity.
