USA, California: PG&E has installed a new transformer at the Del Monte Substation in Monterey, California. The transformer, 2.5 times the power of the old one, is expected to help prevent power outages in the city once it starts operation in March. It will serve customers in Monterey, Seaside and customers throughout the Monterey Peninsula.

PG&E Regional Senior Manager Jeremy Howard said the transformer would enable economic growth and add to the resiliency of the local grid. Although the initial project was for handling economic growth as homes, businesses and cars become all electric, Howard adds that the transformer sent over from Korea will make a difference for the residents of the city.
