Germany: SPIE, a European provider of multi-technical services, has been awarded three new contracts for substations in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. These projects are part of Netze BW’s grid expansion plan to ensure reliable power supply and facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources.

As the general contractor, SPIE will handle the comprehensive planning, development, and commissioning of the substations. Work will begin in the summer of 2025 in Ellwangen, where SPIE will install a 110 /20 kV substation. The project includes setting up operating buildings, transformers, and a telecontrol system. Completion is planned for late 2027.

SPIE is also renovating an existing substation in Obersteinach, where primary and secondary components will be updated. This project will provide greater capacity for renewable energy and is slated for completion by the end of 2028.

The Höpfingen substation will also undergo an expansion starting in 2025, with additional capacity for wind and solar energy. These projects highlight SPIE’s significant contribution to the energy transition in Germany.

SPIE has been a trusted partner for Netze BW since 2006, having completed over 70 projects to date.
