Spain, Burgos: Statkraft has commissioned the 47 MW Cernégula wind farm in Spain, which is the second wind farm the company has developed in Castilla y León and in the province of Burgos, where it operates the Páramo de Poza wind farm. The Cernégula project consists of 8 turbines and can generate enough energy to match the annual consumption of 36000 homes.
The total investment is €54 million. Environmental measures taken by the company include the installation of stereoscopic systems for monitoring birds, including an automatic shutdown module for the wind turbines to avoid the risk of collision. The company has also promoted the creation of a wetland area in Valdivielso and a bird observatory in the perimeter area of the lagoon.
It is now planning a new renewable development in this province, the Abrazadilla project, which will be its first wind and solar hybridisation project in Spain. This project will consist of three wind turbines, which will add up to 21.6 MW of installed power, and a photovoltaic solar plant, which will have 16.5 MW of installed power. It will be located in the municipalities of Ausines, Ibeas de Juarros, Arceo de Burgos and Revilla del Campo.
