North Macedonia: North Macedonia’s transmission system operator MEPSO has put a 400/110 kV transformer at the Transformer Station (TS) Manastir 2 into full operation. The commissioning of the new transformer strengthens the key part of the energy infrastructure, restoring security to a region.
With this commissioning, the TS Manastir 2 energy system will be completely renovated, significantly reducing the pressure on the transmission network. It will strengthen the security of supply in the cities of Struga, Ohrid, Resnje, Manastir and Prilep, ensuring stable electricity during the winter months when consumption is higher, as well as ensuring uninterrupted electricity production in REK Manastir, the main supplier of electricity in the state.
The project, originally launched in 2023 but neglected by the previous management, was hindered by delays and omissions. Under new leadership, it was revived and accelerated to meet the needs of the region.
