USA, Wisconsin, Kaukauna: A fiery incident unfolded in the evening of 12 May in rural Kaukauna when a transmission tower was knocked down near Harwood Road and County Highway KK shortly after 6 p.m.

Dramatic photos and videos sent to FOX 11 captured thick black smoke rising into the air from the site. The fire reportedly started after the tower was struck by a tractor, according to Matt Cullen, spokesperson for Wisconsin Public Service (WPS).

The damaged structure belongs to We Energies, but WPS collaborated with American Transmission Company to secure the area and assist local emergency crews during the response.

Despite the dramatic visuals, Cullen confirmed that no customer power outages occurred, and that the utility expects repairs to be completed within the week.

The quick coordination between utility teams and first responders helped ensure safety and minimise disruption. The incident serves as a reminder of how vital infrastructure and farm equipment can unexpectedly collide, with dramatic consequences.
