Chile: WEG will provide a large transformer for a wind farm in the northern region of Chile, which is being developed by an unnamed global player in renewable energy.  The transformer weighs 435 tons, and its approximate dimensions are 4 meters tall, 12 meters long, and 5 meters wide. It has a maximum power of 350 MVA and voltage of 550 CDC/33 kV.

The wind project is expected to generate an installed capacity of 793.6 MW, enough to supply more than 679 thousand Chilean homes. The transformer is set to play an important role in the project’s energy infrastructure, handling voltage regulation between different parts of the circuit in high-capacity power systems, thus enabling the efficient transmission of electrical energy over medium and long distances in an economical and effective manner.
