USA, New York / Massachusetts: A newly installed WEG transformer is set to reinforce the electricity distribution network in New York, addressing the growing energy needs of the region. Delivered in the first half of 2024, the high-capacity unit supports a power rating of 49.61 / 66.15 / 82.69 MVA with voltage levels of 115/ 15 kV. It will play a vital role in strengthening the infrastructure for one of the largest providers of electricity, gas, and clean energy in the US, which serves around 20 million people across New York and Massachusetts.

The equipment, manufactured in Brazil, was shipped from Santa Catarina to the Port of New York, then transported by land to the Lake Colby substation in Saranac Lake, NY. The transformer’s arrival is expected to enhance the efficiency and reliability of local energy distribution systems, offering a modern solution tailored to the demands of a rapidly evolving energy sector.

The initiative aims to create a more resilient and capable infrastructure to keep pace with regional energy consumption. The implementation of this transformer not only supports the local grid but also exemplifies how advanced transformer technology can address complex utility challenges.
