Design of distribution transformers – e-lesson #16: Advanced methodologies in custom design with special requirements

    DoDT course -e-leeson #16 - illustration 850 x 400 px
    Course: Master’s level

Hosted by: Mario Salano / Master's level

This is the lesson number #16 in the Design of distribution transformers course, authored and hosted live by Mario Salano. It is created and presented on Master's level and you can save your seat here.

This transformers design course with instructor Mario Salano explores advanced methodologies and specialized requirements for custom distribution transformer development. The lesson takes participants on a progressive journey, from slightly special to highly specialized transformer designs. The session covers fundamental transformer principles, including energy transfer and loss minimization, emphasizing their critical impact on efficiency and performance. Through a detailed 2000 KVA transformer design example, Salano highlights considerations around material selection, parameter calculations, and balancing cost-performance trade-offs. The focus then shifts to high-frequency distribution transformers and their role in emerging smart grid architectures, discussing key design challenges such as magnetic materials and thermal management. By the end, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the evolving transformer design landscape and its integration of cutting-edge innovations shaping the future of energy distribution.
