Variable Shunt Reactor: OLTC brings variability in reactive power compensation

    VSR illustration - MR e-lesson #4, 850 x 400
    | Free

Hosted by: Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen / Free

Balanced reactive power in power grids is an important factor in network operations, to minimize losses and to avoid over-voltages in networks.

    Unauthorized message

Variable and multi voltage level generation demand variable reactive power compensation. In this e-lesson you will learn what are the roles, applications and network problems addressed by Variable Shunt Reactor (VSR) in power system cycle. You will also learn about the regulation requirements for VSR with OLTC  along with the different regulation types. Also, MRs experience in VSR applications worldwide will be highlighted through certain examples and case studies of network simulations.

Keywords: VSR, OLTC, reactive power flow control, regulation
